Health care reform of some sort is in the making for this year. The shaping of it probably should not be a political issue, but should be instead an informed decision made with wisdom.
Before medical procedures are performed a consent form called “informed consent” is read, (mostly) understood, agreed to, and signed. All speakers at [...]

Favorite Fitness And Science Podcasts

by pribut on June 2, 2009

I enjoy listening to a variety of podcasts from science and exercise to arts and current issues. While listening to podcasts transfers information a bit slower than a quick read of a book chapter or a web page, the discussions and often interviews can be very enlightening.

Or perhaps a little less. But ask me on Twitter or Friendfeed or below and I’ll tell you more.
This weekend was spent time updating the main web site. (And also some excercise, some warcraft, a trip to the libary, bringing a computer in for a new fan – working it so hard the fan decided [...]

There have been a few articles critical of Google as a corporate entity lately, including a blog entry somewhere which said they didn’t pay attention to their user base.
I thought that was a bit harsh, since I consider Google my best friend. I use it in a fairly limited way. The aspects of Google that [...]

Running And Reading

by pribut on January 24, 2009

Thanks to Brian Morrissey, who on his blog The Internal Pigdog, in this post , pointed out a video of Will Smith touting running and reading as the keys to life. I like both, but I’d encourage a bit of wisdom in eating, strength training, and a touch of cross training in many cases to [...]

by pribut on January 18, 2009

Whatever your politics are, wherever you live, not just in the United States, but all over the world, people are hoping for change. And there is a lot that needs to be changed. In fact some things have been so bad that any change will have to be for the better.

NY Running

by pribut on June 28, 2008

The New York Times had a fine article highlighting running in Central Park. Many years ago, when I regularly ran in Central Park, the north hilly end was even better for speed work than it is today. There was significantly more crime in the area, and to feel safe while running there, you had to [...]

Barefoot, Flipflops and Plantar Fasciitis

by pribut on June 19, 2008

On the npr website is a spot by reporter Allison Aubrey on this topic. Allison came by earlier this week and interviewed me on foot problems and footgear, along with west coast podiatrist/pilates instructor Colleen Schwartz, DPM. Allison did a great job on putting this story together, is very nice, and has much high quality [...]
